Here is the latest from Brian:
-I had a great time last weekend at Jolina's BBQ/graduation party. It was split into two parties, one for the family, and then to be overtaken by the second party as the kids showed up and family members trickled out. Many arrivers were treated as the butt of a "the family time is now over!" joke, as we kidded about certain guests being non-family appropriate. What if they were wearing "FAMILY TIME IS OVER" t-shirts, we wondered.
Another bonus to the party was Uzi Machete's final performance. It was a little sad, I must admit, to hear the possible death of certain classic Joel Kaplan songs. Some of their older jams were leftovers from the end of my era playing with those guys, and they have a bit of a timeless feel to me. I was pretty amazed by how many songs those guys have amassed in their tenure as Uzi. I was also pretty impressed by Josh's new equipment. Drums, recording gear, etc.
Here are some shots from the night:

-Gilly and I have discovered something new and awesome. It is kind of like Girl Flag (tm), but more outer space themed. It is called Space Flag. You can read about it
here and
here. Right now, I have made the Space Flag my desktop on Windows, in stretch mode.
Here's a link to that.
-I've recently been asked to contribute to a .30-06 zine. For those of you who don't know, ".30-06 (
thirty ought six)" was the the name of a house that I lived in for about 11 months starting in 2002. It is a 6 bedroom house in a nice part of NE Portland. It was, at the time, filled with 6 very different personalities, and to make a long story short, was 11 of the most fun/tiring/obnoxious/awesome/terrible/important months of my young adulthood. I never did the dorm thing, so this I figure was as close as I'd come to it.
This request has been the only time in my life I've actually taken a request of this nature seriously at all. I can only think of the word "'Zine" as being pronnounced as "Zyne" since Kevin got me hooked on that. Well, apparently they are trying to get all 20-some whatever people who have lived in the house since we first moved in to contribute at least a little something to the project. And I would hate to think that a "founding member" of the infamous house would have no representation in the publication. Now I just need to come up with something. Brian Schoeck even emailed from Taiwan, pleading with me to do something! It will probably be something horribly smart-ass and totally irrelevant. Kinda like Caruthers World.
